Maine Woman Helping To Rescue Freezing Sea Turtles In Texas
One of the many sad stories we ve been hearing about the weather situation in Texas, is the plight of those freezing sea turtles.
While the amphibians are poikilotherms, meaning their temperature varies greatly, they become stunned when dealing with extremely cold temperatures. Being stunned leaves them basically unable to move. Instead, they just float around on the surface of the ocean.
A Maine woman is helping to rescue these creatures.
According to WCSH 6, Mainer Emma Pontius is on the staff of Sea Turtle Inc, an organization helping to rescue sea turtles near Texas South Padre Island. ....
