hey, yeah. leave it to south africa. i have covered this case from the beginning. always a twist and turn, and this is up there in the bombshell category. even the top legal experts here are stunned. the official plan was for oscar pistorius to be released from prison together to go on house arrest. he was sentenced to five years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. here they call it culpable homicide. he served just ten months of it. he was supposed to get out tomorrow. all set, officials on the record, parole board allowed it. all of a sudden, yesterday, the justen minister says hang on a minute. the parole board didn t have the authority to let him out this fast because he has not served one sixth of his sentence yet, and under south african law, you need to serve that before you can be considered. so he s put the kibosh on it for now. the entire release is on hold. so the parole review board now has to relook at this case, and either overturn themselves or uphold the decision, ....

Get pistorius to admit that he had no reason to shoot into the dark in the bathroom. what else was accomplished yesterday? reporter: that admission from a legal perspective was actually ironically not particularly significant. the reason for that is if we look at the colloquial terminology being used and trace that back to the legal rule that was being suggested, when he said objectively speaking, he started by saying objectively speaking you had no reason to shoot, that defense that he s speaking about is what we would call the defense of self-defense or private defense. that has never been the defense that pistorius has been alleging. what he s been alleging is a defense called a mistaken belief in self-defense which is a completely separate defense in south african law. the fact that pistorius conceded and said, yes, that s correct, ....
