Following a down-t0-the-last-rivet restoration, this Spitfire is now resplendent in the colors she wore while flying with No.331 (Norwegian) Squadron RAF; for a cool £3,500,000, or roughly US$4.75 million, this combat veteran Spitfire will find a new home with a lucky customer in pastures new. ....

Twitter/Netcare911 Both members were Reserve Force pilots flying for the South African Air Force Museum historical flights. It s believed the Patchen Explorer aircraft was approaching the runway when it crashed and burst into flames during a scheduled general flying day. The SAAF’s Mongezi Kweta says the cause of the crash is still unknown. “An investigation into the fatal crash is currently underway to determine the cause and events that led to the unfortunate fatal crash.” ....

A Phoenix-1B Mk IIr hybrid rocket developed by the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and launched from the Denel Overberg Test Range in the Western Cape has reached an altitude of 18 kilometres, setting a new African record. The launch took place on 8 March and saw the rocket travel 17.9 km into the air against a targeted range of 15 km, achieving a new African hybrid rocket altitude record (the previous record was 10.3 km). The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, said the launch is hugely significant for South African engineering and the development of African satellite rocket launch capability. ....
