WHAT IT S ABOUT:
Catherine (Amanda Seyfried) and George (James Norton) Claire are a married couple with a young daughter, Franny (Ana Sophia Heger), who move from Manhattan to a very old house in a small town in upstate New York when the latter lands a job at a prestigious art college. It soon becomes clear to Franny and Claire that the house holds dark, supernatural secrets, but those secrets may be far less devastating than George s own web of lies that quickly starts to unravel as his behaviour becomes increasingly erratic.

Disclaimer: I will, as always, do my best to avoid any actual spoilers in this review, but the real pleasure of this admittedly flawed but compelling film is the ride it takes the audience on by subverting expectations and taking its time before even revealing exactly what kind of story it s telling, so perhaps give it a watch before proceeding with this review. It’s rare that a film starts as bad as this one does and still manages to stick the landing.
Things Heard & Seen begins as a typical haunted house story riddled with cliches but somewhere along the way, the film finds a hold in the power of fate, destiny, and justice outside the law. This film from Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini is less horror and more spirituality, where the ghosts are the least of our worries.
George (James Norton) and Catherine (Amanda Seyfried) move to the Hudson Valley with their young daughter Franny (Ana Sophia Heger) into a large house from the 1800s. Naturally, it has a bloody history involving the original owners of the house and the most recent owners, the Vayle family, whose lone survivors, Eddie (Alex Neustaedter) and Cole (Jack Gore), get hired by Catherine to tend to the house and land. If there s one thing that Netflix s Things Heard & Seen shows, it is that the exploration in the horror genre is far from over.
Based on the Elizabeth Brundage novel All Things Cease to Appear , the film follows George Claire (James Norton), Catherina Claire (Amanda Seyfried) and their little girl Franny Claire (Ana Sophia Heger), who live a comfortable life in New York.
Soon, George announces that he s landed a job as a professor in Saginaw University, a small private college at an upstate place called Chosen. They move into a big house at Chosen that looks extremely creepy and is a hundred years old at least. ....
