Des Moines appliance repair contractor faces forgery charge, lawsuits


Tyler Stache, 23, owner of Stache and Sons Appliance Repair and Delta Des Moines Appliance Repair, was arrested March 17 by Polk County law enforcement on a felony forgery charge. Former customer Kathleen Bowers alleged he had forged her signature in a contract she never signed.
Watchdog previously reported incorrectly that Stache s arrest was in connection with another case.
In Polk County, former customer Chris Jones won a $4,076 judgment against Stache; his wife, Emma Ziegler; and their business on March 31.
Also in Polk, customers David and Kathy Bowers and Pam Hatfield won separate civil judgments against Stache, Ziegler and their business after Stache and Ziegler failed to make scheduled court appearances over the past month. ....

Iowans say appliance repair company took thousands, didn't do the work

DeBruyne’s civil suit against Stache, his wife, Stache and Sons Appliance Repair and Delta Des Moines Appliance Repair, filed this week by her son Jasper Verhofste, alleges breach of contract, consumer fraud and unjust enrichment, among other things.
The lawsuit alleges Stache took $121 to diagnose her oven problem in December, then more than $700 for a new heating element that he said he needed to order. It says he blamed the pandemic for a weeks-long delay in getting back to her with the new part. After she called several times to inquire and he returned to her ....
