Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative’s (SMECO) Board of Directors recently announced that James A. Richards has resigned his seat on the Board as of February 19, 2024. Richards represented Prince George’s County and served on SMECO’s Board since 2001.

Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) recently received a $10,000 contribution from CoBank to award to local organizations that SMECO has supported with matching funds. Each of the following received $2,500: Calvert County Meals on Wheels, Charles County Meals on Wheels, the St. Mary’s County Home Delivered Meals Program, and Clements Cuties Foundation.
Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) and the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) have partnered to offer high school students a tuition-free early start to higher education by piloting a new Early College Program. To launch the joint program, CCPS will offer 150 total spaces to rising high school juniors from Henry E. Lackey, St. Charles, Thomas Stone and Westlake High schools.
