Floods resulting from monsoon rains are an annual occurrence in Assam, India, impacting millions of people and animals. This year, the flood affected 3.4 million people, and thousands of wild animals. Dr. Parikshit Kakati, WWF India’s wildlife veterinary specialist, played a key role during the flood as part of a team that rescued and treated injured wild animals. I respected him very much and still do, with the main difference being that now we are colleagues in the same profession!
