Somersworth Mayor Dana Hilliard gets school district promotion
SOMERSWORTH Somersworth Middle School Principal Dana Hilliard will be promoted to a newly retooled version of the district’s assistant superintendent role on July 1.
The promotion will mark the next chapter of the Hilltop City native’s 22-year career with the district. It also sets the stage for a governmental rarity: a mayor who also holds one of the highest-ranking and highest-paid positions in the city they govern.
“I’ve always said it was going to take a lot to get me away from this building,” said Hilliard, referring to his 10 years at the helm of the middle school. “Now, not only do I get to work with this building, but I’m charged working with all of the buildings and… creating systems that connect with each other educationally, where there is a seamless transition from student to student, from student to building, where everything aligns and aligning all of those systems. Somersworth NH schools to increase in-person learning


SOMERSWORTH Hilltop City schools are tentatively set to begin returning more students and grade levels to in-person learning Feb. 8.
The Somersworth School Board voted 5-4 Thursday night to approve a new tentative COVID-19 school reopening timeline that calls for students in first and fourth grade to start returning on a limited, rotational basis on Feb. 8.
Kindergarten, third and sixth graders, and some Somersworth High School and Career Technical Center classes are already participating in this type of rotational in-person instruction.
The timeline also tentatively calls for additional SHS classes to return on Feb. 15, for students in grades 2, 5, 7 and additional SHS classes to start returning March 1, and for eighth-grade students to start returning March 15. ....
