There is an incredible amount of blood, there is pretty horrific smells because once you get infection to saying, things like gangrene, these women had to deal with some pretty horrific sights and sounds and things that they were not accustomed to but they also had to deal with the fact that a lot of men didnt want them there and maybe the book is worth a dozen men, women and nursing in civil war sound, early in the war the confederacy was very disorganized compared to the union.
