If the past year has taught us one thing, it’s that quite a lot of people actually like going to work after all. Not so much the sweaty commute bit, or the getting up in the dark on a winter’s morning bit, but the dynamic energy of other people. The office, it turns out, is not valued for the job you do there, but the people you do it with. 
David Solomon, the CEO of Goldman Sachs, must be thrilled. He famously referred to working from home as “an aberration” earlier this year, and as if to prove the point, the company is opening yet another office for a few hundred staff in Birmingham later this year. And he is not alone. The designer Ilse Crawford says, “there were tears in the studio when my team started to come back to work, they were all so happy to be together.”   ....
