In honor and celebration of Black History Month, TAMIU will be hosting virtual tours, Black heritage events and speaker events focusing on Black culture and Black lives.
A speaker event with Dr. Gabby Yearwood, director of Undergraduate Studies for the University of Pittsburgh Department of Anthropology and Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies Program will take place on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. Those interested can register to attend and participate at the TAMIU website. Additionally, a movie screening is slated for Friday.
According to Yearwood, during his lecture, the questions “What are the ways in which liberation has been theorized, dreamt and longed for in Black social and intellectual life?” and “What can the actions of Black people inform us about how to think critically about liberation?” will be discussed.
