IKEA U.S. opened an in-store model of a permanent supportive housing unit (Small Home) at IKEA Live Oak, built with sustainable materials and using the principles of trauma-informed design. Trauma-informed design is an empathy-based approach to creating spaces that consider the needs of individuals who have experienced trauma and aims to create environments that support healing and promote overall well-being. IKEA worked with collaborators, including WestEast Design Group and Towne Twin Vi.
