Trough of LPA to bring rains over parts of Mindanao

(File photo) MANILA - The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) will cause rains over parts of Mindanao, the weather bureau said on Monday. "This LPA will not go near the (Philippine) landmass. However, its trough will bring rains over a huge part of Mindanao," Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Grace Castenada said in the agency's 4 a.m. weather bulletin. Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Soccsksargen, Davao Region, and southern Palawan will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of LPA and the easterlies. Castenada said the northeast monsoon slightly intensified. This will cause rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon. She said residents of these areas must take precautions against flash floods and landslides during moderate to heavy rains. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have isolated light rains also due to th ....

Trough of LPA brings rain showers to parts of Mindanao

MANILA - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday said the country will continue to experience different weather systems, including a trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) southeast of Mindanao. In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the weather bureau said the LPA and easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao. Despite the LPA, Benison Estareja of PAGASA said "tropical cyclone formation is less likely this week." One Hospital Command referrals down at least 70%

One Hospital Command Center(File photo) MANILA - Referrals to the One Hospital Command Center (OHCC) declined by at least 700 the past week. Dr. Marylaine Padlan, OHCC officer, said the center received an average of 200 to 300 calls daily this week, still higher than December figures but lower than the average 1,000 calls per day during the surge in January caused by the Omicron variant. Request for isolation of health care workers is also decreasing, according to Padlan. Most of the concerns were requests for isolation facilities, hospital admission, and other inquiries on Covid-19 cases. Some callers also inquired about vaccination and protocols for home isolation. "Karamihan ng mga nare-receive namin ay either asymptomatic or mild sila (Usually, the callers were either asymptomatic or have mild symptoms)," she said during the Laging Handa public briefing. Calls mostly came from Metro Manila and Calabarzon (Region IV-A) while regional centers got the most calls from the Dav ....
