Kansas City metro area health officials are grappling with how to handle continuing case count increases after reopening businesses more than five months ago.
What you need to know:
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Wednesday the state has 292,836 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and there have been 4,724 deaths since the outbreak started. Overall the state said 12% of the population has been vaccinated. Kansas is now only updating COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said Thursday there have been 477,078 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the outbreak and 7,902 deaths. Overall the state said 12.3% of the population has received at least one dose. Sign up for our Newsletters ....

MU Health reschedules postponed COVID-19 vaccinations for Thursday and Saturday
Several Missouri health departments and hospitals are preparing to administer extra vaccinations this week, the result of postponed appointments necessitated by last week s brutal winter weather.
MU Health Care on Tuesday received its shipment of 4,000 Moderna doses originally scheduled to arrive last week. The hospital announced that last week s postponed vaccination clinics have been rescheduled for Thursday and Saturday inside the Walsworth Family Columns Club at Faurot Field.
“Those who had appointments postponed last week are being contacted with new appointment information for this Thursday or Saturday,” said Brad Myers, MU Health Care director of pharmacy and laboratory services. ....
