Parks Department to host community meeting on Sheffield Park on Aug. 3

Sheffield Park meeting set
Austin Parks and Recreation will host the third virtual community meeting on the future of Beverly S. Sheffield Northwest District Park at noon and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 3 via Zoom.
During this meeting, the project team will present the final draft Vision Plan, guided by the planning values, which were created through input from community meetings, surveys and stakeholder feedback.
The virtual community meeting will be recorded and posted on the project webpage.
Department officials also will be in the park from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 7 and Aug. 22 to answer questions and get feedback.
A middle school on Midway Drive in Temple was placed on lockdown by police Thursday as they searched the area for a suspect.
According to a report from our news partners at KWTX, Temple PD s search was concentrated along a creek behind Smith Supply Co. in the 5200 block of Midway Drive. Officers found their suspect, who police say is named in a parole warrant, at approximately 1:15 p.m. The suspect s name was not released.
Bonham Middle School is also located on Midway Drive in close proximity to the area that authorities were searching. In order to keep everyone as safe as possible, police asked that the school go on lockdown.
