Man suing Ross for $1M claims he fell off slippery stool

HOUSTON Ross Stores and one of its managers is facing a negligence claim after a customer suffered injuries at its store in Humble.
Nahid Khatib filed a complaint May 27 in Harris County District Court against Ross Stores Inc., and Jeff Jenkins alleging negligence.
Khatib claims while shopping at the Ross store in Humble on Oct. 21, 2019, he fell off a slippery stool and suffered severe injuries. He alleges that he suffered physical pain, mental anguish, physical impairment as well as suffered lost wages as a result of his fall.
Khatib alleges the negligence of Ross and its then store manager, Jenkins, for failing to ensure its premises was safe and posed no unreasonable risk of harm. He further alleges the defendants failed to warn of the hazard, failed to inspect and maintain the premises and failed to implement safety procedures and regulations. ....

$1M suit alleges woman injured by ceiling cave-in at Houston apartment complex

HOUSTON A Houston apartment complex owner and manager is facing a suit after a tenant s ceiling suddenly caved-in on her and caused her to suffer injuries.
Brenda Smith filed a complaint March 29 in Harris County District Court against Villa Nueva Apartments LLC and IRG Gustine LLC alleging negligence and premises liability.
Smith was a resident at the Villa Nueva Apartments located on West Gulfbank in Houston, according to her suit. She claims that on June. 3, 3019, the ceiling in her apartment suddenly and without warning caved-in on her and caused her to suffer injuries.
Smith alleges the defendants negligence for failing to ensure their premises were free of dangerous and unreasonable conditions. She also alleges that the defendants had actual knowledge of the dangerous condition and failed to warn or protect her from the hazard. Smith claims she has suffered physical pain and mental anguish as a result of ceiling collapse as well as physical impairmen ....
