The high school softball season in Union County featured parity with all of the teams competing on similar levels. Only one school advanced to the state tournament - Smackover, which qualified in Class 3A.
Individually, several players managed to separate themselves from the pack and combine to form the News-Times All-Area Softball Team.

The Sports Alley/El Dorado News-Times Scholar Athlete Banquet Awards will be held on Thursday, May 30 at College Avenue Church of Christ. The finalists for Female Scholar Athlete of the Year are: Smackover’s Presley Ainsworth, Parkers Chapel’s Bella Frisby, Parkers Chapel’s Kallie Martin, Parkers Chapel’s Reaux McAuliffe and El Dorado’s Diana Obiozo.
