Why Vince McMahon Reportedly Pulled Pat McAfee Segment From Throwback SmackDown

WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon reportedly nixed Pat McAfee’s Throwback SmackDown segment because he thought McAfee’s impression of a young Vince McMahon “looked stupid.”
McAfee recently revealed on The Pat McAfee Show how he got all dressed up for the segment where he impersonated McMahon from his announcing days, only for the segment to be nixed at the last minute.
In an update, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the segment was pulled from the Throwback SmackDown broadcast by Vince himself because he felt like McAfee didn’t look or sound like a young Vince, thought it looked stupid, and comical in the wrong way. ....

Matt Hardy Explains How Wrestling Business Is Doing Exceptionally Well Right Now

– As previously reported, AEW star Matt Hardy is not shy about sharing his opinions and thoughts on Twitter when it comes to defending his company. Yesterday, Hardy responded to a tweet by The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer pointing out the TV ratings success both WWE and AEW saw last week.
Meltzer pointed out that WWE Raw, AEW Dynamite, and WWE SmackDown all topped the key ratings demo of P18-49 on their respective nights last week. Matt Hardy noted that the wrestling business is “very healthy and extremely profitable” in terms of TV business. He stated the following:
“It’s shocking how unaware people are of the TV landscape. TV wise, wrestling is very healthy & extremely profitable, especially considering it literally survived a business-killing pandemic. There are a 1000 times more options, on multiple competing platforms, to watch in 2021.” ....

– During this week’s edition of his own weekly podcast, WWE SmackDown broadcaster Pat McAfee Below detailed a segment from SmackDown that got dropped from last week’s Throwback episode at the last minute. As noted, WWE released a clip showing McAfee arriving to arena dressed as Vince McMahon. According to McAfee, more material was planned after that clip, but it got dropped. WrestleMania. Uso sustained his injury during a Triple Threat Ladder Match with Kofi Kingston and John Morrison. Jimmy has been cleared for in-ring action, according to PWInsider.
