Its a celebration of culture with around 500 events across ten days. The aim of the festival is to bring together some of the worlds greatest writers and thinkers to share their stories and ideas. Im speaking to the egyptian author ahdaf soueif. Her novel the map of love made her the first muslim woman to be nominated for a booker prize. Her latest book, this is not a border, is an anthology celebrating her own extraordinary literary festival. Applause ahdaf comes here hotfooting it basically from the staging the 10th. Because of the rain. Notjust because of the showers, but because of the rain we had last night as well. Low pressure is close by, generating showers racing across the country. Some of them are very heavy indeed. Some of us are missing them all together. The far south east of the country, through this evening, this is 6pm, staying dry. Through tonight, the first part of the evening, the showers are continuing in many areas. In the early hours of monday, it clears up. Lots of clear whether across the south and central areas. The pesky showers still continuing in some northern and western parts of the uk. Pretty chilly in the north, down to 5 degrees in rural spots. Tomorrow, we do it all over again.
