Who are you?
My name is Cynthia Marks. I was a high school art teacher for 35 years and Elkhart, Indiana. I have bachelor’s and master’s degree, my first degree was in jewelry design and metalsmithing, with a
minor in ceramics. But, I also did a lot of drawing and painting and then I got a master’s degree in drawing. I’ve sort of combined my love of drawing and painting and ceramics to create clay, where the emphasis is on drawing and painting on the surface of the clay.
How did you get started?
I think it was when I had a fifth-grade art teacher that paid a lot of attention to me. Yeah, I was a kid that nobody paid much attention to I wasn’t brilliant and I wasn’t extremely talented but she saw something and I loved her and wanted to be just like her. ....
