Splash of Colour Splash of Colour Lockdown has been a testing time for many people. However, with pubs, gyms and non-essential services opening back up, ‘GO! Southampton’ has welcomed back its locals with a bang. Bedford Place and Carlton Place have been given a revamp to mark the easing of lockdown restrictions. Artwork designed by local artists and designers, notably Amanda Moore, Slam Daniels and Nathan Evans, decorated the streets, bringing a sense of joy and interactivity. Community groups, schools and local businesses have also got involved in adding colour to the city. This initiative was funded by ‘Go! Southampton’, the Business Improvement District for Southampton City Centre, in partnership with Southampton City Council and Solent Showcase Gallery. A SOUTHAMPTON road is getting a colourful facelift bringing a new vibrancy to what would be a dull area. Carlton Place in Bedford Place is being transformed over the next few days and will add a pop of colour where many would least expect. Southampton City Council and GO! Southampton have partnered up to deliver a road painting project to further enhance the pedestrianised area of Bedford Place. The project is being funded by GO! Southampton which will see the installation of an interactive ‘grid’ design that will be laid out on sections of Bedford Place and Carlton Place. Once complete, local schoolchildren, artists and traders will then be invited to put their personal stamp on the artwork by ‘colouring in’ sections of the grid. ....
