So if you live in the northeast, you re going to want to get out the winter clothes, too. we re talking about bitter-cold temperatures that are sweeping across the u.s. yeah, let s bring in meteorologist karen mcginnis. karen, what can we expect as we head into this week? it is going to be blustery. we re still watching the timing of the winter storm system that looks to be gaining some strength across the south central u.s. let s take a look now at what s going on in dallas. you may see those overcast skies for right now, but those temperatures very cold. not going to be warming up very much. the low clouds later on today could produce some sleet, freezing rain, maybe some minor ice accumulation, but western suburb, watch out, the roads could be treacherous. also, chicago. a live tower cam coming from there, as well. and you re looking at not bad sky conditions, but those temperatures bitterly cold. only into the 20s. right now, 27 degrees, wind chill factor feels like minus 1. to ....

People ask when they see an accident of this caliber, they think what was the weather right away. right. we know san francisco it often has overclassed overcast conditioned. right. but you ruled it out. that wasn t the issue today. they ll still put a report on it, but, you know, don, hour by hour, they couldn t have been better. sky conditions, visibility, unlimited ceilings and light winds. it seems like, don, it also created a situation where you had eyewitnesss, you heard them earlier, who were able to get a clear view whether it was someone who was in a hotel room nearby, whether it was somebody else who we talked to that was in a plane on the tarmac, they were able to see the contact that took place yeah, those are the pictures. right there on the edge on the approach to that tarmac, to that runway for landing, that the tail hit. and you can see the debris field. yeah. and jim tillmon, well, he speaks much more profish aboabo ....

The northern plains is strong winds. 40 to 60 miles per hour. some gusts may approach 75. it will be strong. no question about it. another thing we ll see are the changes to come this week. highs in the 70s possibly for parts of the central plains because of the change in the jet stream. we expect a trough to the west, but a big ridge developing in the eastern third of the country allowing mild air to swarm into parts of the central plains and upper midwest. warm times are coming. in terms of sky conditions, again, it couldn t be better for the southeast. plenty of sunshine in atlanta back to nashville. clear through texas. austin will be phenomenal. northern plains, a mix of sun and clouds. for southern california in the four corners, sun. just snowshowers in parts of the great lakes and for the pacific northwest from portland north to the straits of juan defuca. back to you. you saw the super bowl, ....
