KLANG: Selangor, the state with the most number of infections and deaths, will embark on a massive vaccination exercise on Monday targeting workers, especially those from the manufacturing sector. The Selangor Covid-19 Vaccination Programme (SCVP) is being touted as the answer to returning the state to some sort of normalcy. The nation’s most industrialised state, which is highly dependent on manufacturing and other industries, has been crippled by the succession of movement control orders since last March. The screening was carried out by Selcare, which is the administrator of the state government’s healthcare programme, Skim Peduli Sihat. Selcare manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir said almost 80% of positive individuals in this age group appeared healthy and showed no signs of being infected. “These people had been moving around freely before screening, ’’ Mohd Noor said, adding that there was a small number of Covid-19-positive senior citizens who had no symptoms despite having conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. ....
PETALING JAYA: Covid-19 appears to be spreading at a rapid pace in Selangor and there are cases that do not seem to be linked to any clusters. Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 chairman Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the number of positive cases detected in yesterday’s screening was indicative of the widespread transmission of the virus. “The results are telling us that there are sporadic cases that do not appear to be linked to any clusters, ” he said. “We have to now investigate the link to these cases.” The screening initiated by the Selangor state government was carried out by Selcare, the administrator of the state’s healthcare programme, Skim Peduli Sihat. ....
KLANG: Mass screening to detect Covid-19 infections among local communities will start in Selangor from tomorrow. Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced earlier this week that screening would be held at all 56 state constituencies. The screening would be conducted by Selcare, which is the administrator of the Selangor state government’s healthcare programme Skim Peduli Sihat. Selcare manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir said the exercise would first start in the Hulu Langat district, with the Kajang constituency followed by the remaining constituencies in the same district. “We will be carrying out the exercise over 28 days, screening two constituencies daily, ” he said. ....
