CAMP G. NAKAR, Lucena City –- The Army’s 2nd Infantry Division under Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM0 announced another breakthrough in its anti-insurgency campaign after its troops encountered some 20 New People’s Army (NPA) members which resulted in the death of four rebels in Rizal, Occidental Mindoro.
The intense firefight in Sitio Surong, Brgy Aguas, Rizal that lasted 30 minutes led to the death of four still unidentified NPAs and the recovery of eight high-powered firearms and voluminous documents on Monday.
Col. Jose Augusto Villareal, commander of the 203rd Brigade said there were no casualties on the government side. ....

Four suspected communist rebels were killed following an encounter between the military and the New People s Army in Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, the Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) said Monday.
Initial information indicated that government troops had a 30-minute encounter with more or less 20 NPA rebels in Sitio Surong, Barangay Aguas on Monday morning.
There was no casualty on the government side, but four bodies were recovered from the enemy side.
Eight high-powered firearms as well as some personal belongings were also recovered by the military.
