âFollowing record June heat, many households may have already noticed an increase in their energy bills,â a press release from workforce services states. âFortunately, Utahâs Home Energy Assistance Target (HEAT) program now provides year-round energy assistance so that eligible households can get help with cooling costs.â
According to the press release, qualified households must earn below 150 percent of the federal poverty level, or about $39,750 annually for a family of four. HEAT assistance is prioritized by the highest energy burden in relation to the household income while considering vulnerable individuals such as young children and disabled and/or elderly family members.
SALT LAKE CITY As areas throughout Utah continue to experience record-breaking heat, state officials want residents to know help is available for those who can t afford to keep their air conditioners running.
Salt Lake expects to surpass heat records on Sunday and Monday, with temperatures reaching 103 and 105 degrees, according to KSL meteorologists.
