seemed to be just about all of them, were paved with gold
for Te Kuiti shearer Jack Fagan as he today became the first
to win two New Zealand Rural Games Speed Shear
titles.
Successfully defending the title he won last
year, it was Fagan’s second speed shear win in a rugged
travel schedule which took him on a flight from Hamilton to
Christchurch a 110km drive from Christchurch to the Mayfield
A and P Show, and the 142km from Mayfield to Sefton on

Shearing takes another step forward with the TAB s punt on a speed shear at the Ford Ranger New Zealand Rural Games in Palmerston North this weekend.
The TAB will be taking bets from account holders on the winner of the New Zealand Speed Shearing Championships on Sunday – the last day of the three-day Rural Games in the Palmerston North square, Te Marae o Hine.

Ford Ranger New Zealand Rural Games Now Over Three Days In Palmerston North

Te Marae o Hine Palmerston North’s Square will ring to
the sound of chainsaws and wood chopping, alongside many
other farm animal noises, from sheep and horses to miniature
ponies and working sheepdogs, for three days from
Friday.
The
Ford Ranger New Zealand Rural Games is back and this
time there is a heavy focus on youth to lift interest in the
booming rural economy and rural sports.

initiatives like the Westpac Agri Futures careers day and

National Shearing Circuit Resurrected After Golden Shears Cancellation

The national multibreeds shearing circuit finals, which
looked to have become a non-event this year amid the
cancellation of the Golden Shears in Masterton, will now be
held at the New Zealand Shears in Te Kuiti next
month.
The move was announced today by circuit
committee chairman Warren White, of Waimate, after agreement
was reached with Golden Shears representatives and the New
Zealand Shears which was able to consider the matter at its
regular meeting this week.

organisers and Golden Shears and New Zealand Shears
organisers for agreeing and “making it happen.” ....
