The chief minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, said that up to INR 3,500 crore could have been saved if Mumbai roads had been concretised 15 years ago. The Shiv Sena (UBT) had previously called for a protest against "irregularities" in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which it ruled from 1997 until last year. Shinde said the party was launching a programme to make Mumbai s roads pothole-free and concretised within two to three years, covering 450km in the first phase at a cost of INR 6,000 crore.
CM Eknath Shinde said the ruling partners of Shiv Sena and BJP have initiated a programme to make Mumbai roads not only pothole-free but also concretised in two to three years.
