Farm law stir: Delhi Police detain freelance journalist Mandeep Punia from Singhu border

A Delhi court on Sunday rejected the bail plea of journalist Mandeep Punia and sent him to 14 days of judicial custody, his lawyers told
Scroll.in. The metropolitan magistrate court listed his bail application for hearing on Monday and asked the investigating officer in the case to file his response.
Punia, a freelance journalist, was detained by Delhi Police from the Capital’s Singhu border on Saturday evening. In a First Information Report filed in the early hours of Sunday, he was charged under Sections 186, 353, 332 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The sections pertain to obstructing public servants from discharging duty, causing hurt to public servants while discharging duty and endangering human life. ....

Social activist Anna Hazare called off indefinite hunger strike against the new farm laws and claimed that the Central government has agreed to some of his demands.
In a statement earlier in the day, Hazare (84) had announced that he will be starting the hunger strike from his village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra on Saturday.
In that communication, Hazare had said he had written to the prime minister and Union agriculture minister five times on the plight of farmers but to no avail.
The Union government has agreed to some of my demands and also announced setting up a committee to improve the lives of farmers. I have decided to suspend my proposed indefinite fast starting from Saturday, Hazare said. ....
