The Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) recorded an increase of 0.1 point in April to post a faster rate of expansion at 50.9, the highest reading since December 2018 when the PMI was 51.1. Advertisement Advertisement A PMI reading above 50 indicates that the manufacturing economy is generally expanding, while a figure below that threshold points to contraction.
