Sindh government to purchase 250 hybrid electric passenger buses for 6 districts


Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to purchase 250 diesel hybrid electric buses for public transportation needs of residents of six districts of the province.
The recently held meeting of the Sindh cabinet with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in chair approved the plan of purchasing the buses under the Sindh Intra-District Peoples’ Bus Service Project.
The project will initially be implemented in the cities of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad. The project will cost around Rs 8 billion. The Sindh government has already released half amount of the project’s cost.
While chairing the cabinet meeting, the CM termed it a good development for the residents of the six districts. ....

KARACHI:
The provincial cabinet decided on Tuesday to procure 250 diesel hybrid electric buses under the Sindh Intra-District People s Bus Service project. Besides, the cabinet vowed to take up the matter of the controversial 2017 census before the parliament and decided to devolve solid waste management to the divisional level.
The cabinet meeting, which convened under Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and was attended by provincial ministers, advisors and the relevant secretaries, was also briefed on wheat procurement that began in the province from April 1. ....

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: As many as 105 more people lost their battle against coronavirus as the national tally of active cases reached 69,811 with 5,312 more testing positive and 2,390 recovering in the last 24 hours.
Ninety-eight of the people who died in the past 24 hours were under treatment in hospitals, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
Most of these deaths occurred in Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 33 dying on ventilators during treatment.
The maximum number of ventilators were occupied in Multan (81%), Bahawalpur (68%), Gujranwala (88%) and Lahore (79%).
The maximum number of Oxygen beds (alternate oxygen providing facility other than ventilators administered as per medical requirement of COVID-19 patients) were occupied in Rawalpindi (64%), Gujranwala (85%), Peshawar (84%) and Gujrat (80%). ....

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: The surging coronavirus once against dealt a death blow claiming as many as 105 more lives, as the number of active cases nationwide mounted to 69,811 with 5,312 more testing positive within 24 hours, and the lucky 2,390 also recovered in the same period.
Ninety-eight of the people who died in the past 24 hours were under treatment in hospitals, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
Most of these deaths occurred in Punjab, 58, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 34, Islamabad, 6, AJK,5, Sindh, 1, Balochistan, 1, with 33 dying on ventilators.
