1902 (dated) 1 : 1013760 Description This massive, six-sheet map of Persia produced in 1897 by the British Survey of India (updated to 1902) was the most detailed map of what is now Iran, Iraq, and parts of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan that had been executed to date: we are aware of no comparable map prior. Its exhaustive detail would continue to command respect well into the 20th century: the German military faithfully copied this map in 1918, as they did with other British maps of important theaters in the Great War. Representative Image Bid to save red rice from extinction: HP to bring 4,000 hectare land under cultivation in 5 yrs ANI | Updated: Dec 13, 2020 12:45 IST Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], December 13 (ANI): In a bid to give red rice, which is on the verge of extinction a new lease of life, the Himachal Pradesh government has fixed a target to bring around 4,000 hectares of land under its cultivation and produce around 40,000 quintals of the cereal grain annually in the next five years, state Agriculture Minister Virender Kanwar said on Sunday. At present, the total area under cultivation of red rice for which the state government is also trying to get a Geographical Indication tag in Himachal Pradesh has been recorded at around 1,100 hectares. The total annual production is 9,926 quintals, with an average of 8-10 quintals/hectare production. ....
