A cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in north Sikkim has triggered a flash flood in the Teesta River basin, causing at least ten deaths and leaving 80 others missing. The incident has resulted in extensive damage to infrastructure and has left thousands stranded.
The death toll in the Sikkim flash floods touched 14 on Thursday morning, while 102 people are still missing, said Sikkim government sources. The floods occurred after a cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in north Sikkim on Wednesday.
