New Delhi [India], April 29 (ANI): The second wave of COVID-19 in India has seen various travel restrictions with an eye on health and safety. This has seen athletes miss out on flights for their scheduled tournaments and qualifiers in the lead-up to the Tokyo Olympics as there have been flight bans imposed by other countries. As a result, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) has written to the respective Associations of Malaysia and Singapore for clarity on what will be the exact regulations that will be applied for Indian shuttlers when they arrive there for Olympic qualifiers. Commenting on the same, BAI in a statement said: Currently as per the laid-out guidelines, for any Indian to enter Singapore, they have to either be in quarantine in a foreign country other than India for 14 days before they will be allowed to enter Singapore alternatively, all players have to maintain ....

Reigning world champion PV Sindhu will be eager to return to the podium while former winner Saina Nehwal seeks a return to form in the official season-opening event Swiss Open Super 300 tournament beginning on Tuesday.

Olympic medallist Boe to work with Chirag-Satwik ahead of Tokyo Games

Olympic silver medallist Mathias Boe of Denmark will coach the World No. 10 Indian men s doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy in the run up to the Tokyo Games.
The decision to hire the services of Boe was taken on Friday by the Sports Authority of India s (SAI) Mission Olympic Cell under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme. Boe, a silver medallist at the 2012 London Olympics, has been roped in on the request of Chirag and Satwik.
Satwik and Chirag are currently ninth in the Race to Tokyo with 16 pairs eligible. During his tenure, Boe will also help other doubles team under the TOPS mixed doubles pair of Satwik and Ashwini Ponnappa and women s doubles duo of Ashwini and Sikki Reddy. ....

Thailand Open Parupalli Kashyap retires mid game makes first round exit -ANI


Bangkok [Thailand], January 13 (ANI): Shuttler Parupalli Kashyap on Wednesday bowed out of the ongoing Thailand Open after he retired in the third game of his first-round match against Canada s Anthony Ho-Shue.
Ho-Shue had won the first game 21-9, but Kashyap made a comeback in the second game to win it 21-13. The third set saw the Canadian lead 14-8, but Kashyap decided to retire and as a result, Ho-Shue progressed to the second round.
As of now, it is not known as to why Kashyap decided to retire from the match.
In another match, the mixed doubles pair of Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy bowed out of the Thailand Open in the first round after losing in straight games 22-20, 21-17 to Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet. ....
