Jail time for Nicky Gang members


PETALING JAYA: Fourteen members of the Nicky Gang will spend the next two weeks in jail until their case is transferred to the High Court.Their bail was denied by the Sessions Court here.
The suspects were among 16 members of the gang who were earlier charged in the same court for involvement in organised crime, which carries a prison sentence of not less than five years and not more than 20 years in jail, if found guilty.
The gang’s alleged leader, Datuk Seri Nicky Liow Soon Hee, and his personal assistant Niu Zhe were charged in absentia as both are still at large. ....

Sixteen 'Nicky Gang' members charged for organised crime activities, ringleader to be tried in absentia

(pic) said they were charged for money laundering activities for the benefit of the gang.
He added that the gang’s alleged leader, Datuk Seri Nicky Liow Soon Hee, was charged under Section 130V of the Penal Code together with his personal assistant, who is also believed to be a gang member.
“Nicky and his assistant, a female Chinese national named Niu Zhe, were charged with being members of an organised criminal group, Comm Ayob Khan said in a statement on Friday (April 9).
Nicky and Niu were charged in absentia as both suspects are still at large. ....

Kota Kinabalu: A business owner was on Wednesday fined RM5,000 or two months jail by the Sessions Court for allowing a Filipina illegal immigrant to stay in his premises.
Chung Siew Chin pleaded guilty before Judge Azreena Aziz to permitting the 47-year-old Filipina, who has no travel pass, to stay at the  four-storey showroom and office extension adjacent to an existing two-storey office warehouse at KM 8, Jalan Tuaran here.
The offence under Section 55E(1) of the Immigration Act provides for a fine of between RM5,000 or 30,000 or a jail term of up to 12 months or both on conviction for each illegal immigrant found at the premises. ....
