LOS ANGELES, CA
.-The Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts announced today the eighteen recipients of its first Organizational Support Grants. For 2021, this new initiative replaces the organization’s Artist Project Grants in order to address the immediate needs of Los Angeles arts organizations contending with the devastating effects of COVID-19. These grants provide unrestricted funding of up to $30,000 to help organizations maintain their daily operations and continue their invaluable work during this period of uncertainty. The Organizational Support Grants further Mike Kelley’s philanthropic mission and honor his legacy by supporting organizations that are committed to risk taking, critical thinking, and provocation in the arts. ....

2021 Mike Kelley Foundation awards have COVID-19 relief in mind


There is no vaccine for arts organizations struggling to survive 11 months into a debilitating pandemic, but the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts is offering what it hopes will be an injection of relief.
The foundation, which for the last five years has awarded artist project grants to local organizations, announces Thursday that it is pivoting for 2021. It will instead award $400,000 in organizational support grants to help
L.A. County arts groups stay afloat during this time of unprecedented economic hardship, when most arts organizations have been shuttered for nearly a year.
