Three D.C. area bakers have been excited, and somewhat overwhelmed, by the fast-growing popularity of their bakeries that focus on pastries with Asian flavors over the past three years.
Three successful pastry chefs followed unique paths to find their signature baking styles and expand outside of small, shared kitchens in the D.C. area.
Bakery owners are expanding the palates of District residents by introducing them to pandan coconut doughnuts, matcha almond croissants and many more baked good with Asian-inspired flavors.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA Saturday morning wasn t too cold, although the wind did pick up a bit. But, that didn t keep City of Fairfax residents from turning out for the first farmers market of the 2021 season.
Brenda Snyder, market manager for Saturday and Sunday Farmers Markets in the City of Fairfax, was happy to be back for a new season. We managed to get through it last year, she said. We did not think we could. We didn t know if anyone would come out.
