Dr. Martha Whyte with the Louisiana Department of Health is encouraging citizens to pack the Shreveport City Council chamber to let their voices be heard regarding the request to repeal the smoking ban for casinos that was set to take effect next month.
Whyte addressed the council during the last city council meeting imploring them to consider the citizens who work at the casinos.
She made her call for citizens to show up at the July 13 council meeting in a recent social media post.
“We need to fill the city council chamber in Shreveport on 7/13 with people from all walks of life who are pro the smoke-free ordinance. New Orleans and Baton Rouge have put the health of their community first. Shreveport has a chance to put their people first. We have the chance to be progressive. We have the chance to improve people s lives. Please come out and support us. Make your councilman or woman answer to you
