BEARDEN John Shearer, Shopper News The Tennessee Children’s Dance Ensemble is known for its choreography. But perhaps its best movements this year came in working together to locate and set up an empty building to stage its and the Dancers Studio’s performances recently. Due to the pandemic and because some of the larger facilities normally used would have been cost prohibitive with very limited seating, the 40-year-old group feared it might not be able to find a place.

HALLS Ali James, Shopper News “We understand that people are still adhering to social distancing guidelines, they are usually here to grab things and go,” said Kimberly McCune, Halls Library branch assistant. “Without programming we wanted to reach out to them, to pique their interest, to continue their lifelong education.” McCune said that they took stock of the books and supplies they already had and came up with the idea of loaning out Tween Totes.

KARNS Nancy Anderson, Shopper News Operation Career was a big success at Byington-Solway Technology Center (BSTC) as about 15 prospective employers and technical schools gathered to offer vocational students a next step toward rewarding and lucrative careers. At least two students found employment. Welding students Jeffrey Jenkins and James Claighborne are the newest welders for Tim’s Fencing and Decking.
