Military Base Shooting Suspect ID’d as Fantahun Girma Woldesenbet
The suspect in a shooting that left two U.S. Navy sailors injured was identified by officials as Navy medic Fantahun Girma Woldesenbet, officials said.
The shooting led to an active shooter emergency at a business park near Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland, authorities said.
Woldesenbet, 38, shot the two sailors at “a military institution” at the Riverside Tech Park, officials said. After the incident, he fled the scene in his vehicle to Fort Detrick, where he was assigned, and was eventually shot and killed by military police after he brandished a gun, Brig. Gen. Michael J. Talley, the commander of the Army base, told reporters. ....

FREDERICK, Md. (CN)   Two men are in critical condition Tuesday morning after being shot by a 38-year-old Navy medic at Riverside Technology Park in Maryland.
While the medic has not been identified, U.S. Navy officials say he drove from the Riverside Technology Park to the military base Fort Detrick, about 10 minutes away, where he was shot and killed. Fort Detrick as well as Frederick-area schools and colleges had been placed on lockdown after the police were alerted to the shooting shortly after 8 a.m. According to ABC news, base officials have confirmed that the shooter was stationed at Fort Detrick. ....
