Fife Council accused of 'discrimination' after autistic boy, 5, denied place in additional support unit

A DUNFERMLINE mum has accused Fife Council of discriminating against her son after denying him an additional support unit school place.
Mum-of-three Tina Simpson believes her five-year-old son, Blair, will not cope with a mainstream school placement, however, she has now had two applications refused by the local authority.
The youngster was diagnosed with autism when he was two and currently attends the nursery at Lynburn Primary where he receives additional support.
The family feels budgets are being prioritised over the needs of Blair, who is non-verbal and prone to attempting to run off.
There has been a referral to this other school that nursery advised me to put him forward for, explained Tina, of Wardlaw Crescent. ....

Aberdeen’s Lord Provost is urging people to view getting their Covid jab as a thank you to the hard work of the NHS during the pandemic.
Barney Crockett has regularly hailed the vaccination programme and has actively encouraged anyone offered an appointment to take it.
He also believes it is the best way for us to get back to normal following the coronavirus crisis.
It has lead to a raft of changes to everyday life since the pandemic was declared at the start of 2020.
But following the roll-out of vaccines across the UK it is hoped that this will lead to the end of restrictions. ....
