Maha Guv writes to Uddhav for opposition’s demands IANS / Updated: Jul 1, 2021, 06:00 IST Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Wednesday shot off a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray, asking him to take decisions on certain issues raised by the Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis. The Governor has referred to a delegation of the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) led by Fadnavis which met him in Raj Bhavan on June 23 and submitted two memorandums to him. The main points raised by Fadnavis were: extending the duration of the upcoming Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislature, take steps to fill up the vacant post of Assembly Speaker, and postponing the local bodies elections due to the pending OBC reservations matter.

Gram panchayat polls litmus test for Uddhav Thackeray government s performance Gram panchayat polls litmus test for Uddhav Thackeray government s performance IANS / Updated: Jan 15, 2021, 21:38 IST CM Uddhav Thackeray Mumbai: A mini-general election at the grassroots level was completed without major incidents in 14,234 Gram Panchayats across 34 of Maharashtra s 36 districts (except Mumbai and Mumbai Suburban districts) for 125,709 seats, officials said on Friday. A Maharashtra State Election Commission spokesperson said that, as per the provisional figures available, approximately 66 per cent of the voters turned out and the response was overwhelming especially from women and youth, besides voters in the Maoist-hit district of Gadchiroli. From the total 14,234 Gram Panchayats, 12,776 went to vote as the members in 1,461 village councils were declared elected unopposed.
