Right now, Florida is leading the country in the number of new COVID-19 cases, with the delta variant responsible for the rapid rise in numbers.Florida, Texas and Missouri are responsible for 40% of new cases, according to the White House COVID-19 Response Team.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that nationwide hospitalizations increased last week more than 30 percent from the week before and overall hospitalizations have been on the rise since the end of June.Over the last week, the statewide positivity rate in Florida was 15.1%, with 282 new deaths during that time.
