Image by Henning Supertramp, December 9, 2016 (CC BY 2.0) A little more than six years ago, on November 10, 2014, a few young men made their way to a vacant piece of municipal land in the Namibian capital city Windhoek, put up signs and declared the plots occupied.  The men led by activists Job Amupanda, George Kambala and Dimbulikeni Nauyomamade cited inequality and injustice in getting access to land as the reasons for the land grab. The response that followed could hardly have been greater: most Namibian media reported the incident, even President Hage Geingob reacted.
