PEOPLE have until next Wednesday to comment on proposals to limit traffic in Shipley town centre. Last month Bradford Council began a public consultation on plans to close a length of Kirkgate between the town’s indoor and outdoor market to cars - an effort to make the centre more pedestrian friendly. The ‘bus gate’ would mean only buses and taxis would be allowed to pass down the stretch of road, which would be widened to create a cycle lane either side. The public consultation on the plans, which also include turning a number of streets into one way systems and restricting entry to others will end on Wednesday.
