Islamabad, on the other hand, witnessed a jump in positivity rate as 121 more people contracted the virus. According to data, 8 per cent ratio was recorded in the capital on Saturday. One patient each, however, died from the virus in the twin cities. According to health officials, over one million population of Rawalpindi district, including 985,335 adults and senior citizens and 34,035 frontline health workers, had been vaccinated against the virus. ....

AFP/File RAWALPINDI: After five more Delta variant cases surfaced on Saturday, the district administration has started contemplating imposing smart lockdowns in the hotspots. Officials said 67 people tested positive in the district on Friday while one person succumbed to the virus. A total of 18 patients were however discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours. With reports of Delta variant cases, the district administration said it had launched safety measures to avoid further spread of the disease besides considering imposing smart lockdown in the areas from where the new patients reported to hospitals. ....

On Friday, the death of two women in the age group of 50-59, one man in the age group of 80-89 and another in the age group of 90-99 was reported in the capital. They were residents of G-10, F-6, Rawal Town and B-17.During the last 24 hours, 8,711 tests were conducted out of which 404 males and 270 females tested positive. Officials of the capital administration said that during the last 24 hours 7,591 tests were conducted in the city, which showed 796 people had coronavirus with positivity rate remaining at 10.5pc, they added. Two more deaths from Covid-19 were also reported in the capital taking the tally to 574. Both were women from the age groups of 60-69 and 80-89, The officials said, adding at present the capital had over 11,000 active cases. ....
