The farmers protesting against the three farm laws, clashed with police at several places in the national capital on Tuesday. The Delhi Police had earlier permitted the farmers to hold their tractor parade on selected routes on the Republic Day. The chaos erupted when the farmers broke through the police barricades in the capital. A protesting farmer died after his tractor overturned at ITO during the farmers’ tractor parade on Tuesday, police said.

The Hindu reported. It said a partisan panel like this cannot be expected to be a “neutral arbiter”.
Dushyant Chautala Meets PM Modi Amid Farmers Protest, Rumours of Rift in Alliance

Haryana s Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, amid the ongoing six-week-long farmers protest and rumours of a rift in the state government.
Chautala is the leader of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) which is an alliance partner in the BJP-led government in Haryana. A section of JJP MLAs is believed to have been facing pressure from the agitating farmers.
CNN-News18 reports that Chautala and Modi were set to discuss the agricultural laws and farmers situation. The textile hub, east west corridor, and rail routes were also expected to be among the topics of discussion between the two.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended the implementation of the Centre’s three contentious farm laws until further orders, saying it would constitute a committee to end the stalemate between the government and the protesting farmers’ unions.
Chief Justice of India (CJI) S.A. Bobde proposed agricultural economist Ashok Gulati, Bhupinder Singh Mann of the Bhartiya Kisan Union, Anil Ghanwat of Shetkeri Sangthana and Pramod Kumar Joshi as members of the committee. Each of these members, however, have made statements in the past publicly supporting the new laws.
