What’s open and closed in SoCal with state poised to renew stay-home rules [Los Angeles Times]
Southern California may be about to leave 2020 behind, but don’t expect any change in COVID-19 restrictions as the new year arrives.
With infections escalating and ICU bed capacity near zero in this region and the San Joaquin Valley, Gov. Gavin Newsom says his stay-home orders for these regions will “likely” be extended through mid-January.
The list below summarizes the status of many California public and private spaces, from campgrounds to reservation casinos.
The governor’s orders were imposed Dec. 6 and were due to last through Monday. Newsom said Monday that he expects Dr. Mark Ghaly, the state secretary of Health and Human Services, to extend them on Tuesday when Ghaly discusses ICU projections for coming weeks. The extensions are expected to last another 21 days.
Christmas 2020: What’s open and closed in L.A. [Los Angeles Times]
Southern California has never seen a Christmas like this. With COVID-19 infections rampant here and elsewhere in the state, far fewer families traveling and no room at any inn for nonessential vacationers (by governor’s order), millions of us will look to our own households, backyards, neighborhoods and parks to connect, renew, mourn and be grateful.
Maybe this is the year you play an early round of golf instead of tearing into gifts under the tree. The Wilson and Harding golf courses in Griffith Park are open Christmas Day for those who want to play 18 holes. It costs $17 to $28 per person, depending on what time you go (mornings are more expensive). The Roosevelt Golf Course, 9 holes, also is open, charging $13 to $20.50 per person.
