Kilwinning sex offender Alan Murphy avoids jail for indecent exposure


A young man who exposed himself and chased a teenage girl dodged jail – after protests that he was just innocently urinating during the incident.
Remorseless Alan Murphy, 22, was told he had an issue with denial after the incident only minutes from his own house after he appeared for sentencing last week for intentionally exposing genitals for another person to see without their consent.
Court papers state Murphy, of Church Street, Kilwinning, intentionally engaged in the sexual activity in the presence of the 17-year-old victim in Shavian Terrace and Blacklands Avenue back in July 21, 2020.
The complaint states Murphy pursued the complainer and then repeatedly exposed his member and pleasured himself. ....

Fife fundraiser stole £162,000 from mother-in-law to fund gambling

A crooked Help for Heroes coordinator more than £160,000 from his elderly mother-in-law’s bank account in order to fund his gambling addiction.
Serial fraudster Timothy Grantham, 68, spent almost £90,000 of Elizabeth McIntosh’s money at the Grosvenor Casino in Dundee.
His offences came to light after Mrs McIntosh’s care home fees went into arrears.
Grantham, who was a volunteer coordinator for the Fife branch of Help for Heroes, has been warned he is facing a jail sentence after pleading guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court.
“You are a thoroughly dishonest person,” Sheriff Richard McFarlane said. ....
