Allen Thompson, Sheridan County sheriff and this year’s Sheridan College Distinguished Alumni, has dedicated his life to serving his country and his community with professionalism and excellence.
That’s according to Dr. Walt Tribley, president of the Northern Wyoming Community College District, who introduced Thompson during Saturday’s commencement exercises.
Dr. Tribley said Thompson was involved in the campus community while serving in the Wyoming National Guard, earning recognition as the National Soldier of the Year in 1994.
Thompson was hired by the Sheridan Police Department in 1998 and graduated with honors from the Wyoming State Law Enforcement Academy, earning the Academic Excellence Award. While with the Sheridan Police Department, he was a patrol officer for two years then was promoted to sergeant.
