Several of the president ial democratic contenders courting one of, if not the crucial voting bloc for the democrats going into 2020, black women. I stand here aware that black women are not just the backbone of the Democratic Party but the bone that is making our democracy whole. I have plans, real concrete plans. Plans to make our government reckon with the legacy of racism and discrimination that has systemically disempowered black families and black women for generations. Well hear from those two bigname 2020 counties, mayor Pete Buttigieg and senator Elizabeth Warren later in the show about their plans to reach black women and ultimately defeat President Trump whos riding an alltime level of public approval. Even if the public doesnt necessarily approve of ....
Except to leave the courtroom. that s what they ll do when we figure out what caused this delay. meantime, never trumpers fighting to take back the republican party for president trump may be facing a hard reality this november. former george w. bush speech writer put it bluntly this the washington post. the only way to save the gop is to defeat it. the strategy? republicans should vote for democrats in the house, but remain loyal to republicans in their senate races. he writes, house democrats, quote, will be a check on the president without becoming a threat to his best policies. the tax cut will stand. the senate will still approve conservative judges. but the house will conduct real oversight hearings and expose both russian influence and administration corruption. back with me, sher michael singleton and basel schmeichel. the struggle is? it s real, it s real. would you advocate voting for a democrat? ....
Defense if nato partners fail to increase their spending. that concern heightened as trump heads to helsinki days later to meet with russia s vladimir putin. joining me now, emily sussman and sher michael singleton and kimberly atkins reporter for the boston herald. when we look at this, emily, it is interesting to watch. because you have two very key meetings. nato, which is certainly looking at russia and if you sit in brussels and you talk to e.u. leaders, they are talking about russia. and then right after that, the president goes to talk to the leader of russia. you could see some of the drum beats that are already starting and what they will be when he does hit brussels later on. what are you seeing? it certainly is interesting to know that order of events. particularly given the context of the meetings he s had so far. just recently he met with the similar leaders at the g-7 which ....
Ideals. let s look back. we republicans have been blessed with grassroots supporters who were committed to the ideals of individual freedom. family values, free enterprise and i strong america. let the other side ridicule family values. i m talking about work, responsibility, loving thy neighbor. we discovered who we are is more important than what we have and we know we must renew our values to restore our country. it s a wonderful experience to be where family values. we need once again to be willing to fight for freedom, free markets and traditional moral values with everything we ve got. well, the republican party used to be the party of fam values at least in public. where are they meeting this week? i m joined by sher michael singleton and maria teresa kumar, an msnbc contributor. you re on. i know hypocrisy is the name of ....
Recognize that this requires a new movement, not just to defend the voting rights act but to dream about and push forward to all the policies that we actually need to put in place early voting, same-day registration, ending the restrictions on formally incarcerated peoples rights to vote. we need a 21st-century voting rights act, a constitutional amendment, per se, for the right to vote, the type of things that will put in place the things we need for the future. and so, recognizing all the attacks on the past but building a movement that s actually going to put in place the things we need moving forward. sher michael singleton, i want your take on that as well. we ve seen some erosion of that law as recently as 2013, of course, the preclearance part of that law taken away by the supreme court. how worried about it are you? i m extremely worried. and you pointed out earlier with the congressman, you mentioned north carolina. if you recall, the state court in north carolina state ....
